Johanna Rooney

Johanna Rooney joined CJBS in 2024 as Director of Human Resources, bringing a diverse background that spans roles at The Board of Trade, many years as a copywriter and editor for McGaffer, Inc., and management positions at Ashley Furniture Industries and DSG, Ashley. Her academic journey includes studies at the University of Tennessee and Southern Illinois University, where she graduated in Radio and Television Business with a minor in Theater. She is also a proud graduate of the Second City Improv School.

As Director of HR, Johanna is passionate about helping people reach their goals and is renowned for her exceptional team spirit. She oversees the firm’s culture committee and brings contagious energy and creativity to the workplace—often showing up fully decked out in costume for theme and spirit days. Johanna is also the first to decorate and celebrate office birthdays, making each occasion special by placing a cheerful troll baby doll on the birthday person’s desk. She believes that a happy, engaged workspace is a productive one, and works tirelessly to foster a culture of equity, encouragement, and fun!

Outside of work, Johanna enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. She has four adult children, a husband, a toddler grandson, and a baby granddaughter, whose antics never fail to delight her.
